“So I go home tonight titled the Top selling artist in SA, and I can only be thankful to you SA”…posted on Facebook on 28 May 2017 by the 19 year old singing sensation Refentse Morake.  Refentse received this award at the 2017 SAMAS.  On 24 June 2017 Carpe Diem School will be hosting the ‘Onnerridak’ concert, made possible by Just Propery George, with Refentse as the featuring artist.  Two local artists, Jonty Hendrix and Wade, will share the stage with Refentse as they will be performing during the pre-concert.  Funds raised during this event will be allocated to the critical expenses of Carpe Diem School’s special needs learners.

Jonty Hendrix won the George Heritage Talent Show in October 2016 beating over 70 other talented performers.  This young artist is a talented singer, guitarist and drummer who delights in performing his own original interpretations of songs selected from a wide range of musical genres and eras from Eric Clapton and Dobie Grey through to Sam Smith and alt-J.  Jonty, originally from George and now living in Touwsranten, taught himself from the early age of 10 when he was given his first guitar and a djembe drum.  His early 20’s has seen him grow musically and success has followed as his popularity grows in the local live music scene.

The “Onnerridak” event will start at 16:00 on 24 June with a hearty food and wine tasting.  Members of the public will be able to buy food and order wine for collection on the Monday.  Tickets prices are R130 and R150 and are available at Carpe Diem School and Just Property George.  Funds raised will be allocated to purchase nappies and catheters for learners who are incontinent.  A total of 20 000 nappies are used per year with a total cost of R100 000.
