The 15th annual Grootbrak Grabadoo attracted more than 1000 participants on 30 December 2017.  The challenging routes through epic Cape Pine forestry, graciously opened for the race by MTO, are what make this event so popular with holiday makers.  Mimi Finestone of Interface by Goji PR and Events, organiser of the Grootbrak Grabadoo, commented that due to the number of participants escalating each year they faced some logistical challenges which were met by the remarkable assistance of their excellent partners and the Grootbrak community.

Medic Frontier joined the Grootbrak Grabadoo team for the first time this year.  They responded lightning fast to all medical emergencies on their quad bike.  De Kaap Eiendomme supplied all participants that entered for the event at their offices with essential information on tourism for the region. Wickus de Swardt, owner of De Dekke Spar, donated towards the water points and Powerade saw to it that all participants enjoyed much needed refreshments.

The advice of Bles de Wet of WeFix Garden Route Mall, as an experienced and super fit mountain bike enthusiast, was essential in developing challenging but safe routes.  Vickus of Coimbra was available to assist cyclists with services and advice regarding their bicycles.  Like every year the community of Grootbrak, Peperboom restaurant and the local businesses of Grootbrak supported the Grootbrak Grabadoo in full force.  The Mayflower Cricket Club is the beneficiary of the 2017 Grootbrak Grabadoo, as it is the aim of this event is to involve, empower and contribute to the Great Brak community.
